Summer days

Yesterday, being the first day of summer, was just beautiful here. I stayed outside until about 8:30pm then it got a bit chilly. We went to Borders and bought some books.I bought 2, one for my artwork and one for pleasure.
The art book is "Digital Expressions" (Creating digital art with Adobe photoshop elements)by Susan Tuttle. The second is a novel"Breakfast with Buddha" by Roland Merullo.
I've read the first ten chapters of "breakfast with Buddha" it's interesting so far.I don't often read novels, but the reviews and title , intrigued me. We'll see how it turns out. It's an easy read. Humorous,a bit irreverent, and intriguing.
I'm anxious to try some of the projects in the Digital Expressions book. It came with a CD , too. I'm using a new computer to I'll have to reload the photo shop. I think I'll go and try some now. I'm feeling my Muse tugging on my shoulder. She's anxious to create. I hope to add some new dimensions to my ATC's,Greeting cards, and journaling.
Time will tell.

writing

So I want to be a writer. Well, a published one that is. I CAN write, but how well remains to be seen. Hopefully, I soon will be getting a Dragon naturally speaking machine to help me with typing. It takes me a while to get things typed. I have Rheumatoid arthritis and a host of nerve problems, so Vocational Rehab. has agreed to get me one.I've had a couple of lessons with it and think it will be a great addition, once I've mastered it.
Of course, typing is the easy part, What to type is the difficult part. I've written a picture book, I haven't queried it quite yet. A couple of years back I submitted it to a magazine that was holding a contest for picture books, I didn't win. But I haven't given up on it, I just need to do some more revisions on it.
I've also started several other books, one is temporarily called 'yankeehandy tips and tricks'
It is a book I started about 20 years ago. It contains many uses for items, the usual ones, but many unusual ones. Ways to use things up; refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle. Most people, advertisers too, start with recycle, but that should come last. I'll expound on that later.
Another manuscript I'm working on is about my medical affairs of the last 10 years.
It is getting to be quite a journey! I've learned a lot I'd rather not of learned.
Well, the sun is finally threatening to come out after a long hiatus, so I think I'll go out and enjoy some of it. But never fear my little darlings, I'll be back.

april15th tax day

Well, it's tax day here in the good old US of A! I filed ours early last week. We're getting a small refund. I haven't filed that late in ages, but since I was sick they didn't get done. Joe doesn't want to touch anything to do with $ except to spend it!
They say women control the vast majority of money in households, but only a very few work on wall St. etc., damn glass ceiling!
April 15 th was our dog Iris' birthday,, she passed away a couple of years ago, I still miss her a lot.
Her name was Iris, since she was born 4-15 IRS day, so I changed it a bit to Iris, since I like flowers a lot, too.
I have been working on ATC's recently, I started making and trading them the end of November 2009. I've made close to 200 so far. An ATC stands for artist trading card.
It's a card that is 2.5 by 3.5 inches, about the same as a playing card or baseball or other trading card. You draw or paint or collage or whatever else your little heart desires on the face of the card. Mostly I draw or paint,I 've only done a few paper collages, thought lots of mixed media. I'll go into it more later.*( See Naked heart art.)

spring is here

I just came in from the yard. I was checking out my herb beds. My husband and I started them last year. There are some herbs coming back. Lemon balm and thyme, leeks, oregano, chives and lavender. I'm really surprised and happy the lavender is back. I've never had lavender grow back. My Auntie Barb said hers always came back readily.
Maybe I've finally found the right spot for it.
My physical therapist just called and is coming over now so I'll check back in later.
Happy Spring!!
